Matcha is ground fine enough to clump in storage. Unsifted matcha whisks lumpy and clogs your chasen. Sifting before every cup is standard practice, this jar does it in one shake instead of needing a separate sieve.

Scoop matcha into the mesh lid with the 3 beads, and shake. The beads break up clumps as they roll, and sifted powder falls straight into the jar below.
